Fossils - Eye to Eye with the Primeval Sea
With the nature park ranger, you will walk in the footsteps of millions of years old rocks that tell stories of creatures from long-lost seas. You will start together directly at the Fischeralm for an educational, exciting research tour into the creek bed. Sharp eyes and a little intuition will enable you to find fossilized tower snails, sea urchins, coral formations, and beds of shells. Back at the Fischeralm, you will polish the found fossils together under guidance. A very special keepsake for home!
The Nature Park Weissensee – the geological diversity in the Gailtal Alps. The protection and preservation of these natural treasures are an important part of the nature park.

Time: 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM
Meeting point: Fischeralm (not accessible by car)
Travel Tip: comfortably by (e-)bike or a relaxed hike
Dining options at the alpine farms along the route!
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Equipment: Sturdy hiking boots, weatherproof clothing, drinks
Costs: € 22,- adults, € 15,- children (up to 14 years)
